
As of May 26, 2025, highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 has been identified in 1,072 livestock locations across 18 states in the United States. The total includes cases in dairy cattle, along with two confirmed swine cases and one in alpacas. The vast majority of detections involve dairy operations.
To date, there have been no reported cases of HPAI in Canadian dairy cattle.
