With the COVID–19 pandemic still impacting Canadians this summer and into the foreseeable future, Maizex Seeds will be focusing on providing plot tours for interested growers via an online platform accessible at virtualplottour.com and maizex.com.
“We have invested in the digital tools necessary to showcase our products and agronomy efforts this summer despite the pandemic and resulting restrictions in some areas on gatherings we might normally have,” says Stephen Denys, Brand Director. “Although the restrictions may be lifted and our traditional in-person plot tours allowed to take place, we decided to adopt this strategy so that our customers and growers have a safe venue to obtain this information if they do not feel comfortable in a group setting, with the added benefit that it is available 24/7.”
Maizex has identified approximately 20 plots across Canada to represent each distinct growing region and showcase the performance of their best-selling and new-to-market corn hybrids and soybean varieties. Each plot will be listed with weekly rainfall and CHU information, along with periodic updates from Maizex at key growth stages, incorporating photos and videos to provide growers with insight into these products and how they will perform on their field and their farm.
“The virtual plot tour project will actually allow us to provide growers with significantly more information and data than our traditional plot tours, so this is a strategy we plan to carry into the future, even when restrictions are lifted when the pandemic is (hopefully) under control,” adds Denys. “We will be developing storylines with our expert agronomy team to deliver growers the most useful information possible in order to help them with what is possibly their most important business decision all year—seed selection. Our goal is to help Canadian growers make the best decisions possible in order
to be more profitable on their farms.”
