Canadian tractor sales fall 18% in January, combines up 31%

According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ monthly “Flash Report,” the sales of all tractors in Canada in 2019 were down 19% over last year.

For the year, a total of 1,280 tractors were sold, which compares to 1,571 sold through January 2018.

For the month of January, two-wheel-drive smaller tractor (under 40 HP) were down 15% from last year, and 40 & under 100 HP were down 26%. Sales of two-wheel-drive 100+ HP were down 24% from last year, and four-wheel-drive tractors were up 8% for the month.

For the year, two-wheel drive smaller tractors (under 40 HP) were down 15% from last year, while 40 & under 100 HP were down 26%. Sales of 2-wheel drive 100+ HP aredown 24%, while 4-wheel drive tractors are up 8% for the year.

Combine sales were up 31% for the month. Sales of combines for the year totaled 59, an increase of 31% over the same period in 2018.
