Syngenta Crop Protection and Taranis are expanding their collaboration into a formal partnership aimed at advancing AI-driven crop management tools for agricultural retailers across the U.S. Midwest.

The move follows a 2025 pilot program where retailers used Taranis’ AI Crop Intelligence platform alongside Syngenta’s crop protection portfolio to detect and address field issues earlier in the season. The model proved effective in improving operational efficiency, reducing manual scouting time, and helping growers maximize yield.

“AI is agriculture’s next transformative breakthrough,” said Vern Hawkins, president of Syngenta Crop Protection and North America regional director. “This partnership allows us to scale a proven model that benefits both retailers and growers.”

Taranis’ platform uses high-resolution imagery and machine learning to identify crop stress and pest issues at the leaf level. Retailers reported that integrating these insights with Syngenta’s agronomic guidance helped prioritize high-risk fields and streamline decision-making.

In 2026, the partnership will broaden through selected retail networks, supported by an enhanced Ag Assistant platform featuring new AI capabilities such as advanced yield-projection algorithms.

The collaboration also supports conservation goals. Building on Taranis’ 2025 conservation initiatives, both companies plan to make it easier for retailers to deliver sustainability services and help growers access conservation funding with less administrative burden.

“We believe ag retailers play a critical role in bringing conservation solutions together for growers,” said Paul Backman, Syngenta’s head of digital agriculture and sustainable solutions in North America.

The partnership reflects a broader shift toward data-driven agronomy, combining Syngenta’s expertise in crop protection with Taranis’ AI analytics to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and profitability at the field level.
