Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Agriculture has announced the recipients of this year’s Agriculture Student Scholarship, an annual initiative that supports students pursuing post-secondary education in agriculture-related fields.

Abbey Norek was named the 2025 grand-prize winner and awarded $6,000 for her submission, which addressed the growing disconnect between urban and rural communities regarding agriculture. Her application emphasized the importance of education and advocacy to close this gap. Norek shared her personal experiences, including leading school outreach programs on her family farm, creating a school garden using recycled materials, and advocating for agriculture-focused courses in her school division.

Joining Norek as scholarship recipients are Noah Skoropad of Chamberlin, Rebecca Mayerle of Tisdale, and Ty Annand of Nipawin, each awarded $3,000 as runners-up. All four recipients plan to attend the University of Saskatchewan this fall, enrolling in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources to pursue Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degrees.

The Agriculture Student Scholarship program is part of the province’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of agricultural professionals, recognizing young leaders who demonstrate passion, innovation, and a desire to strengthen the agri-food sector.
