Nutrien Ag Solutions is reinforcing its commitment to agricultural research and technology with a new facility at its Innovation Farm in Champaign, Illinois. Designed as a hub for training, collaboration, and customer engagement, the facility is a key part of Nutrien’s broader effort to make cutting-edge agronomic solutions more accessible and practical for farmers.
Since moving into the space last November, the farm’s 16-person agronomy team has hosted 18 events, showcasing how products, precision tools, and best practices can be integrated into real-world farming. The facility’s primary goal is to accelerate the adoption of innovative solutions, ensuring that research translates into practical benefits for growers across the U.S. and Canada.
A Nationwide Innovation Network
Champaign is just one part of Nutrien’s growing Innovation Farm Network, which now spans four locations: Selma, California; Winterville, Mississippi; Owensboro, Kentucky; and Champaign, Illinois. This network allows Nutrien to test full-acre solutions across diverse growing conditions, providing valuable insights that can be directly applied to farming operations of all sizes.
By conducting large-scale field trials, Nutrien helps growers see firsthand how different technologies—such as precision-enabled machinery, drones, and proprietary products—can work together to improve efficiency and sustainability. The goal is not simply to promote specific products but to share proven, practical knowledge that farmers can confidently implement.
Six Years of Innovation in Champaign
Nutrien acquired the 282-acre Champaign site in 2019 with a vision of transforming it into a premier research farm. Over the past six years, the team has cultivated the land, conducted extensive trials, and even supported an award-winning FFA student project.
On March 20, the company celebrated a new chapter for the Innovation Farm with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Employees, growers, industry partners, legislators, and agricultural media attended the event, exploring the latest advancements in precision agriculture and agronomy programs.
