Nuffield Canada has opened applications for its 2026 Agricultural Scholarships, with entries accepted until June 30. This prestigious program offers Canadian agricultural professionals the chance to gain global insight, expand their leadership skills, and bring innovative ideas back to the industry.
Each year, Nuffield Canada selects a group of mid-career individuals from across the agricultural sector to receive a $20,000 scholarship. Recipients embark on a self-directed international travel and research experience, spending at least 10 weeks over two years exploring a topic of their choice related to modern agriculture. Scholars then produce a detailed report and share their findings with peers, industry leaders, and sponsors at Nuffield Canada’s Annual General Meeting.
The scholarship is open to Canadian citizens involved in any aspect of agriculture — including primary production, processing, policy, communications, and sustainability. Past scholars have come from diverse areas such as aquaculture, forestry, food safety, biofuels, and mental health in agriculture. Applicants from all production approaches — including commercial, organic, Indigenous, Halal, and Kosher — are encouraged to apply.
The application process involves a written submission and a one-way video, followed by interviews with shortlisted candidates. Those selected not only benefit from international travel and professional development but also join a global network of more than 2,000 Nuffield alumni in countries such as Australia, Ireland, Japan, and South Africa.
With over 140 Canadian alumni, Nuffield Canada continues to support leadership growth and knowledge-sharing across the industry. The program aims to help individuals strengthen their careers while contributing lasting value to Canadian agriculture.
